As the Staff Attorney in the ALAS Member Services Department, Matt Steward supports all aspects of core underwriting functions, including:
• LPL renewal and new business underwriting; • Supplemental and new business underwriting; • Merger underwriting; and • Preparing confirmations of insurance.
Matt also responds to coverage inquiries, creates and maintains member performance tracking models, and oversees the organization and management of department files.
Prior to joining ALAS, Matt worked at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP for more than five years, most recently as Client Relations Manager. In that role, he worked with practice group leaders as a liaison with the Hinshaw Billing Department, leading a team of client intake coordinators in opening and managing new and existing matters. Working with Hinshaw’s Office of the General Counsel, Matt also handled all aspects of outside counsel guidelines, rates, client billing constraints, and other related issues.
Matt is an Eagle Scout and an adjunct professor at Dominican University, teaching courses in business law and career development. For better or worse, he is also a lifelong, die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
