Joe Shereda works with the general counsel and management teams of member firms on a range of underwriting, coverage, and membership issues. He also has responsibility for member firm recruitment and retention and helps the ALAS General Counsel on internal legal and compliance matters.
Joe’s work with member firms focuses on addressing insurance-related issues that arise from member firm operations. For example, Joe has significant counseling and underwriting experience in connection with mergers and lateral hiring transactions, the expansion of firm offices and practice areas, and thorny client engagement terms and coverage questions. Joe also advises members on ALAS management and employment insurance programs.
In working to retain current members and recruit new firms, Joe meets regularly with firm leaders to discuss ALAS coverage programs and industry-leading claims and risk management services. Joe has significant experience underwriting and onboarding new member firms, helping to further strengthen and diversify the ALAS membership.
Prior to joining ALAS in 2008, Joe practiced in the Chicago office of Jones Day, where he litigated commercial disputes and white-collar criminal matters.
