Michael Hearon supports all aspects of new business underwriting for our lawyers’ professional liability coverage and supplemental programs for management liability insurance. He reviews renewal applications, makes recommendations on coverage changes, and helps process those changes. He advises member firms on coverage, mergers, lateral hiring, and cyber liability.
Michael also serves as Assistant Corporate Secretary to ensure compliance by ALAS, its Board of Directors, Committees, and Senior Management with the company’s bylaws and other corporate governance documents, as well as governance-related regulatory requirements for risk retention groups and industrial group captives in Vermont. He works with Senior Management, the Board Chair, and Committee Chairs to prepare materials for meetings, ensures that proper procedures are followed, and all necessary resolutions are addressed at the Annual Meeting of Members and Board-related meetings.
Prior to joining ALAS, Michael was litigation and coverage counsel with Liberty Mutual Insurance where he managed insurance bad faith and coverage litigation. Prior to Liberty, Michael was a partner at Quarles & Brady LLP where he handled complex commercial matters in all phases of litigation, including discovery, dispositive motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, trial, and appellate work.
Michael is a seasoned traveler and enjoys spending time outdoors with his husband and Welsh Pembroke Corgi. Originally from Kentucky, he returns often to the Bluegrass State to visit family and friends and cheer on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats.
