Vice President—Senior Loss Prevention Counsel

Betsy Fahey

Overview

As Vice President—Senior Loss Prevention Counsel at ALAS, Betsy Fahey provides guidance to member firms in managing exposure to professional liability. Her duties include writing, speaking, and counseling on professional responsibility, cyber liability, and risk management topics.

Betsy delivers loss prevention training programs to lawyers and business professionals at member firms and organizes ALAS conferences on various topics. She works with firms to conduct in-depth loss prevention and underwriting reviews. Each review includes a detailed look at firm policies, procedures, and claims history, resulting in loss prevention recommendations tailored to the firm. In addition, Betsy edits the ALAS Loss Prevention Manual and counsels firm loss prevention partners on tricky risk management issues.

Prior to joining ALAS, Betsy was a corporate partner in the Chicago office of Baker McKenzie, where she represented multinational companies in cross-border and domestic mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, and implemented internal restructuring transactions. For several years, she served as the chair of the office’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and its Women’s Affinity Group. Before beginning work at Baker McKenzie, Betsy was an associate at an ALAS firm specializing in private equity and venture capital transactions.

In her free time, Betsy can be found reading a novel or attending a dance, band, or musical theatre performance by one of her children.
